Common uses:

NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH AFRICAN VIOLETS. The flowers makes a beautiful delicate decoration for cakes and desserts. A tea made from the leaves and flowers acts an excellent decongestant and soothing expectorant. The soothing tea effectively attends to sinus ailments and whooping cough. Violets have a long-standing reputation of treating both benign and cancerous tumors.

Growing:

The age old garden or sweet violet grows easily with well-composted soil and a weekly watering. At late winter and into early spring the well known purple flowers are at their most prolific. The heart shaped leaves are evergreen and makes a spectacular border around a flower bed. Runners are separated from the main plant and transplanted 30cm away from each other.
